What is your desire? Is it a great friendship? Trying something new? Traveling to unknown places? Our desire is to treat you to great music and because of this, we can meet your desires in so many different ways. If you desire to witness a great competition we offer our Young Artist Competition concert at the beginning of the season. If you desire great dance we offer up a work by modern master of tangos, Astor Piazzolla. If you desire social equality, don't miss our third Masterworks concert featuring the speeches of Martin Luther King.
We all desire great soloists and we have a fabulous international line-up for you this season. Virtuoso guitarist Marcin Dylla will play the most beloved of all guitar concertos: Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez. Maruizio Moretti will bring us a giant of a piano concerto by Brahms. Our own concertmaster, Stacy Lesartre will take the spotlight for the Dvorak Violin Concerto.
Speaking of great violin concerti, the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto will grace our stage for the first time in years, presented by Michael Ludwig, concertmaster of the Buffalo Philharmonic. That's part of our first annual "I Know That Tune" concert, filled with melodies you're sure to recognize. (If you have a passion for Looney Toones, this is your night!)
One of our biggest events of the season will be in Masterworks Four, as we feature a work that caused a riot at the Paris Opera the night it was first performed; a work never before performed in the City of Fort Collins: Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring.
The Larimer Chorale, Beethoven, Copland, Sibelius, Tchaikovsky...it's all here with great panache and with our desire to give you the best season the Fort Collins Symphony has presented yet. Reserve your seat today!
