FCSymphony Begins A Season of Diversity

The Fort Collins Symphony, under the direction of Maestro Wes Kenney, will begin its 68th Season titled A Season of Diversity on Saturday October 7, 2017 with A Cultural Assortment. The orchestra will play Jean Sibelius’ ground-breaking Symphony No. 5. Guest artist and 16-year-old virtuoso Ray Ushikubo will perform Henryk Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No. 2. The symphony will also perform African American composer Adolphus Hailstork’s moving hymn interpretations in Three Spirituals for Orchestra. The Fort Collins Symphony’s offices are moving to the Colorado Building on 141 South College Avenue on September 1, 2017. Fort Collins’ oldest arts organization will soon have a permanent home through the generosity of Dr. Ed Siegel, who owns the beautiful art deco building where his father, Julian Siegel, operated a successful women’s apparel business for decades and was often heard saying, “I love music!” Mayor Wade Troxell recently proclaimed December 20, 2016 as Julian Siegel Day.
