Timothy Cuffman

In addition to being a member of the Fort Collins Symphony, Timothy Cuffman currently serves as Assistant Concertmaster of the Cheyenne Symphony. Previously, Timothy has been Concertmaster of the Longmont Symphony and Principal Second Violin of the Mansfield Symphony. Additionally, he has performed as a substitute musician with numerous ensembles including the Colorado Symphony, Akron Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Iowa, Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony, Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Dubuque Symphony.

Timothy Cuffman is an active performer and teacher currently based out of Boulder, Colorado. He is currently on the faculty at the Rocky Ridge Music Academy in Denver and Boulder as instructor of violin and viola. Previously, he has served as a teaching assistant at the University of Iowa and Ohio University. Cuffman has also held faculty positions at the Athens Community Music School, Marion Music Academy, and the Western Reserve Institute of Music. As a presenter, he has appeared at the American String Teachers Association National Conference in Pittsburgh in 2017 and the American Viola Society Festival at the Colburn School in Los Angeles in 2018. Timothy has also given guest recitals and masterclasses at Bloomsburg University (PA), Eastern Kentucky University, and Valley City State University (ND).

Dr. Cuffman earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy with a Secondary Area in Viola from the University of Iowa in 2016. He also holds Master of Music degrees from Ohio University in Violin Performance and Upper String Pedagogy and a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from the University of Akron. His principal teachers include Dr. Scott Conklin, Dr. Stephen Miahky, and Professor Alan Bodman. He has studied viola with Professor Christine Rutledge and Dr. Michael Kimber.
