Violist Lauren Spaulding, a Texas native, received her BM in Viola Performance under the tutelage of Professor Peter Slowik at the Oberlin Conservatory and received her MM at CU Boulder as TA for Erika Eckert and Geraldine Walther of the Takacs Quartet.
Currently, Spaulding holds the titled position of Assistant Principal in the Cheyenne Symphony, won in December of 2014, but also performs as Principal of the annual Colorado MahlerFest, Principal for Opera of the Ozarks (2015), section member in the Fort Collin’s Symphony, and a regular with the Greeley and Boulder Philharmonics. Additionally, as an avid chamber musician, Spaulding performs and has performed in a multitude of genres ranging from classical to cross-over across the country, performing for four years in the Oberlin-formed Ektos Quartet across the Northeast and at the White house in 2012.
Since moving to Colorado, Spaulding performs with many chamber ensembles in the greater Denver area such as the Boulder Chamber Orchestra, the Laramie Chorale, as a CD recording studio violist for UI Sound productions, and with Sphere, an up-and-coming cross-over-inspired chamber ensemble. In the Fall of 2015, following her passion for orchestral performance, Spaulding pursued an Orchestral Certificate under Colorado Symphony’s principal violist, Basil Vendryes.
