Section Cello

Beth Wells, Cello

Beth Wells has played in the cello section of the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra for the past 17 seasons. As well, she is in her 22nd year of teaching orchestra in the public schools. She taught junior high orchestra in Kansas and Poudre School District before becoming Director of Orchestras at Rocky Mountain High School in 2005. Ms. Wells’ orchestras have been invited to perform at the Colorado Music Educators Clinic/Conference five times since 1998. She has been an adjudicator and clinician for orchestra festivals in Jefferson County, Northern Colorado and Wyoming.

Beth received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Lamont School of Music, University of Denver where she studied with cellist Richard Slavich. Currently she is a member of the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra and the String Quartet Con Brio.

She is proud of her two sons, Ryan, age 22, a double bass player studying music performance at the University of Northern Colorado, and Tyler, age 19, a horticulture major at Colorado State University. Beth is married to Tom Bittinger, a bassoonist and junior high orchestra teacher in Poudre School District.
