FCS to Host All-John Williams Pops Concert

The Fort Collins Symphony, under the direction of Maestro Wes Kenney, will perform music composed by the Marvelous Magical Movie Master John Williams on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Timberline Church.  Selections will include music from Williams’ most recent scores and favorites from the past.

American composer, conductor, and pianist John Williams has written some of the most recognizable and popular film scores in cinematic history. With a career spanning over six decades, Williams has won five Academy Awards and 23 Grammy Awards. The Fort Collins Symphony will perform pieces from Raiders of the Lost Ark, Lincoln, Amistad, and Star Wars, to name a few. Notably, the orchestra will play music from The Force Awakens, the most recent Star Wars Episode.

Following intermission, the Symphony will showcase on the big screen for the first time ever the late Charlie Hatchette’s ingenious Symphony Interruptus. The piece is based on the premise of:  what if everyone’s cell phone went off at the start of a concert? Advanced Media Services recorded the piece in May 2014 with Maestro Wes Kenney conducting and the Fort Collins Symphony performing an original piece appropriately titled iCanon which was composed by Jim David and several of his Colorado State University students.

Tickets, $25 for adults and $10 for children, may be purchased by calling 970.221.6730 or clicking HERE. The Marvelous Magical Movie Master concert is sponsored by Marilyn Cockburn, Elizabeth Elliott, Gwen Hatchette, Gary and Carol Ann Hixon, Don and Jan Jorgensen, Paul and Mary Kopco, Sage Benefit Advisors: Tim Hebert, Savory Spice Shop: Allan and Susan Kirkpatrick, and Peter Springberg. The Fort Collins Symphony’s Season sponsor is Banner Health and the City of Fort Collins Fort Fund, and the B Sharp program is supported by Kaiser Permanente.
